WILSON, Lucinda S - Putnam

The funeral of Mrs. Lucinda Wilson was conducted at her late residence, two miles south of Russellville by Rev. N. C. McCay Sunday afternoon, April 16. Interment was at Seceder burying ground, Portland Mills.

Lucinda Strahan was born in Fleming County, Ky., March 20, 1814, and departed this life April 14, 1899, making her at the time of her decease eighty five years and twenty four days old. She moved with her parents to Putnam County, Ind., in the year 1827 and continued to reside in that county until the time of her death. She was united in marriage to John Wilson Dec. 3, 1835. To this union was born eleven children, nine sons and two daughters. Her husband and four children have preceded her to the better land and six sons and one daughter still survive to mourn her loss.

She united with the New Hope Presbyterian Church in Kentucky when she was fourteen years old and remained a consistent member of the church all her life. She was a firm believer in the sovereign power of God. A favorite quotation with her was from Psalms 33:9, “For he spake and it was done; he commanded and it stood fast.” Her abiding hope in her Savior continued strong up to the last. She was an affectionate wife, a kind and loving mother and a good neighbor. The promise of God was surely fulfilled in her case, “Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like a shock of corn cometh in its season.” Job 5:26 - thanks to S for typing this one !
